Life beyond the badge

MOSS is a riveting drama about an aggressive second-generation cop who struggles to establish his own legacy in the shadow of his highly decorated, but now deceased father. Detective Keith Moss, the hero in this story, is not a cop who plays by the rules. He’s considered by his colleagues, and some of his superiors to be a loose cannon. Whether it is masquerading as a blind man to enter a bank and foil a robbery in progress, or putting a gun to the head of a dope pusher to extract the name of his connection, Moss always seems to find a way to get under the skin of his superiors. The cartel wants Moss dead because he is trying to close down their operation, so they put a price on his head. The leader of a local motorcycle gang picks up the contract and launches a failed attempt to carry out the contract by planting explosives in Moss’s apartment. Moss, closing in on the cartel, is involved in a shooting, which leaves the local distributor dead. Moss is placed on administrative leave pending review by internal affairs and the district attorney. Thinking he might just shuck it all, Moss sets out on a cross-country journey to reflect on his future. Along the way, Moss has some delightful experiences that generate positive thoughts of life beyond the badge. But, proving the old axiom that you can’t run from who you are, Moss finds himself in the small town of Juliana, Montana, that has been under siege by three outlaw motorcycle thugs, which ignites Moss’s own peculiar sense of justice. Moss embarks on a plan to methodically rid the townsfolk of their nemesis, and then proceed along his intrepid journey to find his own truth. He learns in the end that the town’s nemesis is indeed his own, for the contract killer had tracked him to Juliana to finish the job he was assigned to do. For Moss, the strength of his resolve to continue on with his personal plans is challenged when he allows himself to fall in love with a young woman who nurses him back to health following a vicious and near death attack by the thugs. Moss struggles with a decision to remain in Juliana with the women he loves or to return to Los Angeles and resume his shaky career as a narcotics officer. The choices Moss will make are intriguing and add further suspense to a story that is full of adventure, romance and drama. (note: To download complete script go to links and click on MOSS pdf icon)
